My body is not willing to allow me all this repetitive, physical work. I try to ignore the signals, but it doesn’t work, and now, I’m punished with interrupted nights, and limited activity. Movement feels better than rest, but, being a physician, I know, it’s probably only inflammation of muscles which needs rest. Nothing to worry about, but nothing to be ignored by stubbornness. Remember, physician and nurses are the worst patients ;-).
After a few days of reasonable rest, I started again painting a bathroom cupboard, and ….
In Belgium I had Willy, the best physiotherapist in the entire world, to fix me now and again. I try to follow his recommended program of daily exercises, but it’s not enough. Actually I don’t have an Italian Willy (Guglielmo?), and as far as I know, no physiotherapist here would do something without having some technical reassurance, so I prefer to wait, patiently, and hope the problem will pass.
Iris has no mercy, not anymore, so I can only write it down ;-). What now about food?
Luckely, I will always find a way to ease my cooking, by using my dear oven.
Chop 600 grams of Brussels sprouts in quarters (even that is probably not a good idea). Put them in a oven dish. Add 1 drained can of chickpeas, 4 chopped garlic cloves, 2 teaspoons of madras curry powder, 2 teaspoons of cumin seeds and a drizzle of olive oil. Bake in the oven at 200° for 60 mins. Stir now and again.
Boil 150 grams of whole grain pasta in salted water.
Mix pasta with vegetables. Season with 1 table spoon of za’atar and 1 table spoon of fresh parsley. Serve with grated pecorino.
PS The painkillers are working, and tomorrow I will try to be more obedient;-).
