It’s never easy to find the ideal after dinner dessert. It can’t be the protagonist of a meal, so it’s important to remember: not too heavy, not too much, not too complicated.
I found out that Italians ( which counts for other southern countries) used to bring or wine, or dessert if invited to a dinner. So, if you made an impressive dessert, it’s possible that you will feel almost embarrassed to serve it.
Anyway, I hope to be clear in advance, and, if not, then my offered dessert will be rather modest and at least consumable the following days😋.
For 8p, halve 4 pears. Remove the skin and central part. Mix with a drizzle of lemon juice and 2 teaspoons of cinnamon.
Cut 8 pieces of 2 ready made pastry of 230 grams. Put 1 sage leave in each piece of pear in a buttered small oven dish. Cover with the puff pastry. Mix 1 egg yolk with 1 teaspoon of honey and a pinch of saffron. Brush each portion with the honey mixture. Store cool.
After finishing the main course, bake the dessert in the oven at 180° for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Turn. Serve with local Italian ice cream.
I love the sage leaf! Sage and pears are delicious together.
