Nasi goreng

The italian version of an Indonesian recipe (or is it the Belgian version?) is a delicious way to use a lot of Italian ingredients in a different way.

For 2p boil 120grams of basmati rice. Chop 2 garlic cloves, 1 small onion, 1 spicy little pepper. Fry in 2 table spoons of peanut oil in a wok or similar pan. Add 200 grams of chicken filet cut into little pieces. Allow to bake for a few mins while stirring. Add small cubes of paprika (300 grams), cucumber (1 small cucumber (or beans, or …). After a few mins of baking add chopped mushrooms (250 grams) and 3 chopped spring onions. Stir regularly. Add the boiled rice, 2 spoons of soy sauce and 1 spoon of ketjap manis.

Serve the dish with an omelet, or a sunny side up. As side dish today, daikon thinly sliced and marinated in some rice vinegar adds a fresh flavor.
